The Streets is the first stage from Streets of Rage 4. One of the most dangerous parts of town where crime rates and violence have spiked exponentially, now pretty much a slum filled with thugs.
Story[]
Ten years have passed since the fall of Mr. X and his Syndicate. The city has been at peace... until now. A new crime empire has arisen, corrupting everything good in the city. It is rumored to be led by Mr. X's own children: the Y Twins.
Former detectives Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding join forces with their old friend's daughter, Cherry Hunter, along with Floyd Iraia, an apprentice of the brilliant Dr. Zan.
Together these four vigilantes stand against the Y Syndicate on the... Streets of Rage.
Enemy List[]
On higher difficulties, enemy density is higher and other variants may appear.
- Galsia / B.T.
- Y. Signal / G. Signal
- Donovan
- Dylan / Kevin
- Koobo (Mini-Boss)
- Antonio (Retro Mini-Boss; Mania+)
- Diva (Boss)
- Weetnee (Mania+)
Overview[]
Main Street[]
The stage starts off simple with a trashcan with a money bag in it, as well as a few Galsias walking in from the right along with a Y. Signal. The camera will stop in front of a shop with another trashcan, this time containing an apple for health. At this point, even more Galsias will appear from the left and right and a Y. Signal walks in from the bottom. Once all enemies from here are defeated, the stage continues up some stairs and stops in front of a boxing shop. A Galsia will then charges at with a knife from the right. After he's down, another one walks in from the left and also charges with a knife. Then two more will appear with knives from the right. Once they are all defeated, a Y. Signal walks in from the left, and after defeated, the player can proceed.
As you move on, a Donovan will jump out of the manhole cover behind the player and is soon joined by another from the right. The camera will once again stop in front of a phone booth. This can be broken to reveal a turkey. A G. Signal will appear along with a few Galsias and Donovans (one from the manhole).
After all enemies are defeated and as you continue down the streets, another two Donovans will jump out of the manholes behind and in front of you. Continue until you reach a chicken shop, and you will encounter a B.T. and another manhole Donovan with a pipe. There will also be a crate with a knife and a trash can with some money. Another Donovan will walk out of the alley while a Y. Signal will walk in from the left.
After those enemies are taken care of, you continue downwards while fighting B.T.s, Donovans, and G. and Y. Signals. A Donovan will jump out of the train car with a pipe, and a Galsia will charge out of a tunnel with a knife (there is an apple in front of this tunnel, so beware when picking it up). Inside a container below the tunnel is another turkey.
As you approach the next corner, a car will crash and damage a Galsia, Donovan, and Y. Signal (and possibly the player, if they're near it). Another Donovan and B.T. will approach from the left to try and surround the player. The car can be destroyed, which will contain a Power Star.
Continue right and fight off a horde of Galsias and B.T.s while possibly destroying the container with a knife in it. The camera will stop in front of the Pine Pot café with a G. Signal waiting for you and a Donovan ready to jump out of the manhole. Another Donovan will join in from the right.
Mini-Boss: Koobo[]
Moving past the café leads to a trainyard with a Galsia, Y. Signal, and Donovan waiting for the player, near a barrel that contains a turkey. However, as soon the player approahces, they killed by the first miniboss in the game, Koobo, who lands on them; on higher difficulties, two Koobos will appear. He wields lead pipes and can swing or throw them at the player, and can respawn pipes indefinitely if disarmed. Koobo can jump high and crash down on the player (which can be avoided by moving far from his shadow, or jumping in place as soon as he lands). He can telekinetically lift weapons on the ground and send them towards the player (as of the current patch, he can only throw two at a time, but if unpatched, he will throw every weapon that's currently on the ground). Throwing weapons at Koobo is not advised as he can parry any projectile thrown at him. Once Koobo is down, jump into the hole and continue to the next scene.
Retro Mini-Boss: Antonio (Mania+ only)[]
On Mania+, a cursed arcade cabinet will be on the top side of the screen, right above where the Koobos spawn. When destroyed, it spawns the retro miniboss Antonio. The player can actually summon him before entering the zone where the Koobos appear by throwing a knife or pipe offscreen where his cabinet resides, which makes facing him alone significantly less challenging. Antonio is very fast and will relentlessly throw boomerangs at the player; if a boomerang is thrown at him, he'll parry it and use against the player instead.
Abandoned Trainyard[]
The player lands in an abandoned trainyard with a Dylan standing to the right. There is a knife hidden towards the bottom left. There are electrical wires on the ground all over this scene that can damage and stun the player and enemies alike. The first stop has you facing more Dylans, a Galsia, and a B.T. There is also a barrel with an apple.
Continuing right reveals a Power Star on top of a yellow wire, requiring decent timing to pick up without getting shocked. At the next stop, a horde of Dylans, Signals, Donovans, and Galsias will be waiting to ambush you. There are red and yellow wires (this yellow wire has money as bait this time) here and enemies are very likely to get shocked by them.
Moving on, there are multiple barrels. One has an apple, one has a turkey, two or three have money, and the rest are empty. You then have to move into the train car. Inside is a Galsia with a knife they will charge at you followed by an unarmed Galsia on the left. You don't have a lot of maneuverability in the car, so be careful. After both Galsias are dead, it's time to face the boss.
Boss: Diva[]
- Main article: Diva#Boss Battle
Diva's arena has three crates around with one Power Star, one apple, and one turkey amongst them. Diva introduces herself by gathering electricity in her snake and slamming it on the ground to make a small puddle before the fight begins. Once she reaches her second phase, she becomes a little more aggressive, and reinforcements appear. First wave has a Dylan and Kevin, followed by a Donovan with a pipe and a Galsia with a knife, followed by another Donovan and Y. Signal. The last duo is a G. Signal and a Kevin.
On Mania+, one of Diva's variations, Weetnee, will appear once Diva reaches around 50% health.
