Shadow is an enemy introduced in Streets of Rage 4. They are black palette swaps of the Murphy enemies, and are the quickest of their palette swaps, and unlike their original counterparts, don't use their energy shields often. Instead, they fight by throwing shurikens from a distance and will only put their shield up quickly to try and block projectiles thrown at them, even being able to block projectiles from behind with their shields. They are only encountered in Stage 12, first (and last, on most difficulties) appearing on the hall before the throne room, and during Ms. Y's fight, 2 are also located in the knight armor breakables which also contain a small and large food item (on higher difficulties) and on 2+ player co-op. Murphy and Dunphy will use batons and/or their shields for closeup encounters and less commonly a quick punch if their shield was broken and they dropped their baton. Sand has the most durable shield and use tasers.
