Police Precinct is the second stage from Streets of Rage 4. It's a massive building that serves as the pillar of the Wood Oak Police Department, to which Axel and Blaze used to be part of. The place has since become another nest of the Syndicate's claws, now filled with corrupt cops beating thugs into submission.
Story[]
After defeating Diva on her hideout, Axel questions her about the state of the city, to which she replies that the new Syndicate is too powerful, and have the power to control everything and everyone. Diva goes on saying that the Grandmaster of Chinatown used to be an ally to the Syndicate, and that he can be of help. Before Diva can continue, a helicopter appears above the heroes and the police comes down, knocking them out and arresting the group, which is taken to the precinct.
Enemy List[]
On higher difficulties, enemy density is higher and other variants may appear.
- Galsia / B.T.
- Y. Signal / G. Signal
- Donovan
- Dylan
- Feroccio / Dick / Barney
- Murphy
- Jack (Retro Mini-Boss)
- Commissioner (Boss)
- Deputy (Mania+)
Overview[]
Breaking out of the cell[]
The stage starts with the player in large a jail cell surrounded by B.T., Y. Signal, Dylan, and Donovan (two of each on higher difficulties). After they are defeated, the player must break open the cell door to proceed.
Outside of the cell is a water fountain with an apple inside. Once the player breaks out of the cell, the cops (Feroccios) will immediately appear from the right. When they're are defeated, a cell above with Galsias and B.T. will open up, and more Feroccios will walk in. It should be noted that the cops and syndicate thugs will fight and can kill each other. Once this group of enemies are down, a new cop named Dick will walk in.
When the stage continues, the player will be moving upwards and come across Feroccio and Dick beating up a Galsia (who may break away from Dick eventually). A cell that contains a Y. and G. Signal will open on the left. Defeat all of these enemies and continue upward.
The player will stop in front of two cells, and another cop, named Barney, waiting. He is armed with a taser and will try to lunge at player; if he succeeds, he'll slam the player character on the ground and shock them. If disarmed, Barney will always towards the taser to pick it up again. As Barney's health drops, the cell with the Galsias will open, followed by the Donovans' cell. When the cells are opened up, more Feroccios and Dicks will walk. There are also two fountains with a turkey and a pipe each.
Retro Mini-Boss: Jack[]
If the taser hasn't been destroyed, it can be taken into a room behind and hit the arcade machine and fight Jack in a retro stage (two on Mania+); if playing with either version of Shiva or Roo, the secret level can be accessed by using a Defensive Special Attack on the cabinet. Jack will start off with a knife and will either throw it at you or use it to poke the player. If disarmed, Jack can punch the player or spawn another knife. There are two crates with a turkey and a star. Once Jack is down, walk into the doorway to exit. Once exiting the retro stage, the player will be returned to the normal stage at full health.
Security Checkpoint[]
Continue towards the security checkpoint and you will face another horde of cops and syndicate thugs. When they are defeated, a short scene will play and introduce Murphy, who has a energy shield that will block any damage until it is broken. If the shield is untouched for a few seconds, it will regenerate. Murphy is also carrying a tonfa and will smack the player with it. When the shield is broken, Murphy will be stunned and open to punishment. After Murphy's defeat, the player can move on to the next scene.
Precinct's Office[]
The top floor of the precinct is under a lot of chaos with cops (Feroccio and Dick) and sydicate thugs (Galsia and B.T.) fighting each other. At the start of the scene, there is a vending machine that can be broken for some money. After defeating most of the initial group, a Murphy (with much less health) and a Y. Signal will approach from both sides. Murphy can be attacked and defeated before he puts his shield up if the player is fast enough.
The next stop has a Feroccio and Galsia fighting each other while a Murphy duo block the way forward. A Kevin will appear from the left shortly after. The water cooler on the right will have an apple.
Walking forward will reveal another Barney (two on higher difficulties), who will immediately try to zap the player with the taser. Moving to the next stop, a Galsia that got his hands on a taser will walk from the left and try to charge at the player with it. A Murphy will walk in shortly after, followed by a B.T. and a Donovan. After this group is defeated, another Murphy and a Dick will walk in from the right. There is a water cooler with a turkey in it behind the desk you're fighting at.
The last stop before the boss has a fight against a Murphy horde. A water cooler with an apple is located on the top right. It should be noted that the player can immediately break down the office door without defeating the group; however by defeating them, the player is awarded with a Power Star and some money.
Boss: Commissioner[]
- Main article: Commissioner#Boss Fight
The player will then come face to face with the Commissioner himself, who immediately destroys his desk and chair. The center of the office will now have an apple and some money. If the player has unlocked the golf club on Survival Mode, one can be found at the top right side of the screen.
On Mania+, one of the Commissioner's variations, the Deputy, will appear once the Commissioner reaches around 70% health, and another one once he reaches 30% health.
Trivia[]
- "The Commissioner" boss theme was composed by XL Middleton.
- At the starting area of the precint, inside the cell, the player can spot a couple of graffiti on the walls. One of the them says "Kill Axel Stone", and the other "Blaze New House" with a coffin drawn underneath it.
- During the fight against the Commissioner, a board can be seen in the background, with a picture of Mr. Y, as well a sheet of paper with Y Corporation logo pinned on it, implying the police was investigating the company before being corrupted by the Y Twins.
