Mifune (known as Ninja in Streets of Rage 2) is an enemy from Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3.

Details[]

Mifune and his palette swaps appear as ninja-like enemies. Accordingly, they move fast around the screen and are constantly jumping around, making it harder to hit them. Some of them will be carrying kunai or swords, which they use for a deadly spinning attack. In both games they are also able to throw shuriken while airborne. They can use an afterimage technique to evade jumping attacks.

Trivia[]

  • In the design document of Streets of Rage 2 they are said to be subordinates of Zamza.
  • Mifune and its variations are named after famous martial arts actors, like Mifune (Toshiro Mifune), Chiba (Sonny Chiba), Kosugi (Sho Kosugi), etc.
  • One of their audible techniques is "Ninpo Kage Bunshin", which was later popularized in the Naruto series.
  • Mifune was originally considered as a returning enemy for Streets of Rage 4, alongside Fog, Jack, Slum, Vice and Hakuyo. Like those, he was ultimately scrapped.
  • In Streets of Rage 4, the Shadows (black palette swaps of Murphy) fight similarly to Mifune. They're fast, agile, and throw shurikens at their foes.
