Streets Of Rage Wiki

Cargo Ship is the third stage from Streets of Rage 4. It's a cargo ship supposedly owned by the Y Corporation.

Story[]

After defeating the Commissioner at the top floor of the precinct, a mysterious man immediately enters the room, clapping and greeting the "city's finest heroes". He introduces himself as Mr. Y, saying that him and his sisters are the new owners, implying their control over the police. He attempts to bribe the vigilantes to stop meddling in the Syndicate affairs, by showing a briefcase containing large amounts of money, only for it to be burned to cinders by Axel's Grand Upper. Mr. Y then order his bodyguards to shoot at the vigilantes, who escape by breaking through the window, falling into the waterway below. The heroes manage to find surface on a cargo ship nearby.

Enemy List[]

On higher difficulties, enemy density is higher and other variants may appear.

Overview[]

The Ship's Bow[]

The level is located on a cargo ship sailing the city's river under a heavy storm. It starts with the hero on the ship's bow, where the player faces several Galsia, B.T., Dylan, Kevin and Francis. The whole area is disseminated by barrels full of fuel which can cause massive damage to all adiacent characters (included the player) when exploding, if hit. At the second part of the screen, the player can find an explosive barrel semi-hidden inside one of the large containers; destroying it will reveal a Power Star. If the player unlocked the umbrella on Survival Mode, it'll be inside one of the other explosive barrels.

Once clearing the ship's bow, the player can jump down to the entrance of the ship's engine room. Big Ben will be seen slapping Galsia and will enter the engine room. More Galsia, B.T., Kevin and Francis will appear. Once all enemies are defeated, the player can proceed to the next screen.

Retro Mini-Boss: Rocky Bear (Mania+ only)[]

If playing on Mania+, a cursed arcade cabinet will be located at the bottom right side of the screen before entering the engine room. Destroying it will spawn Rocky Bear. It's strongly recommended to only break it after defeating all but one enemy (preferably a Galsia), as Rocky Bear is very fast and powerful, boasting a powerful uppercut attack that is used as an anti-air and get up attack.

The Engine Room[]

Once the hero enters the ship's engine room, will face a Big Ben (two on higher diffilculties) charging and breathing fire. He can be severely injured if tossed against the barrel behind him. Once he's at half health, several B.T. and Galsia come as backup support. After defeating him and before going up to the stairs, several Kevin, Galsia and B.T. will appear, and later a Donovan wielding a pipe, and lastly a Francis.

The Ship's Corridor[]

The corridor is narrow and the player cannot move up and down, only forward and back (essentially meaning the Y-Axis is locked). This can make difficult to maneuver as Kevins and Donovans will be on the way; care should be taken to not use jumping attacks against then, since they'll counter with their notorious anti-airs. As the player progresses, they'll also be flanked by Kevins and Donovans (some of them wielding a hammer). Galsias (some of them carrying knives) will also spawn.

Tossing weapons at enemies is a safe way to progress, especially the hammer, since it has high durability. Near the end of the corridor, the player will find several Francis; they are very dangerous as the player won't be able to move up or down to avoid their flying kick. The best way to deal with them is by using Special Attacks when they charge, and lock them near walls to pressure them. Health recovery items can be found by smashing the crates; they can be difficult to see due to the foreground.

Boss: Nora[]

Once the player goes upstairs, they'll find the starboard leading to Nora's command (and slaving) room, accompained by two Galsia. Nora by herself isn't very dangerous, but she has the ability to empower Galsia, changing their name to "Galsiaaaaa", which makes their hair blonde and gives them perpetual super armor. If she whips a Galsiaaaaa, it'll recover their health.

As Galsias won't stop spawning and Nora will prioritize whipping them, the player can find themselves quickly overwhelmed. Ideally, the player should try to isolate Nora from the Galsia first, preferably to the left side of the room, and throw her against the spiked wall, which can deal heavy damage. The player may also defeat all Galsias but one, as more won't spawn until the "wave" of Galsias is fully defeated.

On Mania+, Belle and Stiletto will appear once Nora is at around half health.

Trivia[]

  • "Nora" boss theme was composed by Keiji Yamagishi.
  • In the boss room, a poster of Ash can be see on the wall near the door.
  • While it is shown in the final game, concept art for the stage has "Y Corporation" written on the hull of the ship.
